Connect with your community

Join the League

Becoming a member of the League of Utah Writers is a great way to get involved in your writing community. Members also get exclusive benefits, including discounted event tickets, select contest access, and publishing opportunities.

League membership is $45/year. Students are eligible for discount pricing. Check out the full list of membership benefits.

Need a writing group?

The League of Utah Writers is built on the backbone of local writing groups, or chapters, throughout Utah. All chapter meetings are free to attend.

Choose from in-person chapters organized by geographical location or online chapters organized by genre. Each writing group is unique and focuses on different aspects of support, from critiquing to classes, meeting weekly to monthly.

Already have a writing group?

Take your writing group to the next level by becoming an official League of Utah Writers chapter. Becoming a chapter connects you to a broader network of Utah writers and provides your writing group with financial support.

New chapters need five active League members to start and require a group member to serve as chapter president. Check out the full list of requirements and apply today!

The League offers four writing contests every year, with a variety of categories for genre and type of work. Whether you're a new writer looking for feedback on your work or an experienced pro, our writing contests have something for everyone. Winning pieces in select categories are eligible for publication in the next Utah's Best Poetry and Prose anthology. Every entry, winning or not, gets judging feedback from writing and publishing professionals.

2026 Diamond Quill Winner: Hallie in Heels

What secrets would you keep to protect the people you love?

Hallie Cross walked away from everything she cared about—her career, her multi-million-dollar company, and the way her heart skipped a beat around her business partner, Lucas Croft. Leaving nearly destroyed her, but she’d witnessed a secret so devastating it would shatter everything Lucas believed about his life. To protect him, her only option was to disappear.

For four years, the plan worked.

Now, Hallie has built a new life at a PR firm while secretly helping keep Croft Power afloat from afar. But one week before Lucas’s massive international expansion, the FBI—and Lucas himself—show up at her door. Someone has unleashed a cyberattack on Croft Power’s servers, locking the entire network behind a $100 million ransom demand. If Lucas doesn’t pay before the launch, the company will collapse.
